If you’ve ever been on a Disney cruise, then chances are you’ve visited Castaway Cay. Castaway Cay is Disney’s private island in the Bahamas. This port has so many things to do for families, adults and kids! There is the beautiful beach to enjoy, water and land activities, shopping, fabulous lunch and more!
Castaway Cay has a beautiful beach where you can relax and have fun. There are plenty of beach chairs to go around. So if you don’t find one at first, just keep looking! If you don’t want to walk far, then I would recommend getting off the ship as early as you can. As you head off the ship, there will be beach towels for you, so no need to bring towels from the ship. You can also use your Key to the World cards for any shopping, rentals or beverages on the island, so no need to bring cash off the ship.
There are several areas of the island to explore:
Castaway Family Beach
This area is the place for family fun! Most of the activities are here, including things like kayaking, swimming, volleyball, soccer and more. This area also offers lunch at Cookie’s BBQ, which is included at no extra cost.
Snorkeling Lagoon
This area offers tons of snorkeling fun! There are areas for novice snorkelers and more advanced areas. Keep an eye out for the hidden Mickey here!
Serenity Bay
This is the adult-only oasis, which is quieter than some of the other areas. Relax and enjoy the beach here with only guests 18 and over. There is also the Air Bar BBQ here for lunch, as well as delicious specialty drinks at the Castaway Air Bar.
Pelican Plunge
This area offers a 2,400 square-foot floating platform complete with 2 twisting water slides. Fun for all ages here!
Teen Hideout
Just what it sounds like-a place for teens to hang out and enjoy their time on the island away from the adults!
In Da Shade Game Pavilion
Take a break from the sun to plan games inside this shaded structure near Castaway Family Beach. This area includes things like table tennis, billiards and basketball.
Sports Beach
This is the place to enjoy those outdoor games like volleyball and tetherball.
You can rent things like snorkel gear, inner tubes, kayaks, paddleboards, paddleboats and more on Castaway Cay. You can either reserve these items before you sail or once you get to Castaway Cay. Of course everything is subject to availability, so you may want to reserve something before you sail if it’s a “must-do” for you.
Don’t forget to save some time for the shopping here! You will find exclusive Castaway Cay items on the island, and you can use your Key to the World card to purchase any souvenirs there.
There is also a Castaway Cay 5K if you want to participate. There is no set time to begin, and it’s open to anyone 10 years and older. Just sign up at the start line, and then run or walk the 5K. All finishers will receive a special medal!
Whatever you decide to do on Castaway Cay, enjoy!! This is one of my favorite parts of a Disney cruise!
