When you think of Disney, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind? For most people it’s Mickey Mouse, castles, princesses and roller coasters. When you go to Walt Disney World, you go for the theme parks. The rides, the characters and the dining are what Disney is all about. But what about on those days when you don’t want to go to the theme parks? What can you do then??

During any Walt Disney World vacation, I always recommend that my clients spend at least one day away from the theme parks, to discover all of the other wonderful things that Disney has to offer. There are many ways to spend this “day off”. Depending on the weather (which is good for most of the year in Florida!) you can spend a peaceful day by the pool at your resort. The Disney resorts are known for their fabulous pools, and the kids will love the water slides. There are also many other activities at the resorts. You can play golf, go on a fishing expedition, or even try a pirate cruise especially for the kids! They’ll come back with their pirate loot, and the adults can have some quiet time to themselves.

If your family wants to leave your resort, I also always recommend spending some time in Disney Springs. There are fabulous shops and restaurants to discover there. The kids will love the World of Disney and the Lego Imagination Center. One of my favorites is the Disney’s Days of Christmas, where you can get Disney Christmas decorations any time of the year. And let’s not forget the wonderful restaurants to discover! You can listen to some great live music at the House of Blues, have sushi at Wolfgang Puck’s Café, and I always recommend trying the Earl of Sandwich for lunch. You should definitely put it on your list! And don’t forget about all of the new shops and restaurants that have come to Disney Springs! If you haven’t been in a while, then you’re in for a surprise! Try the Boathouse, Morimoto’s or Paddlefish for an amazing dining experience.

I always recommend that my clients take some time to enjoy all that Disney has to offer. Take a day off and relax, and you’ll have much happier children (and parents!) when you are in the parks!
