When you think of a Disney vacation, you probably first think of Walt Disney World in Florida or Disneyland in California. And you probably think of rides, characters and maybe hot weather and crowds. But have you ever thought about a Disney cruise for your next Disney vacation? A Disney cruise can be a great alternative to the busy parks if you’re looking for a Disney fix!
Some things on a Disney cruise are very similar to being in the parks.
- You will still find your favorite Disney characters, like Mickey, Minnie and friends, princesses and more!
- You will still find amazing Disney dining; with food you will love!
- There are still opportunities to dine with your favorite characters (some of these experiences are an additional cost on a Disney cruise).
- Your child can still become the princess of their dreams at the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique!
- If your child is a Pixar or Star Wars fan, try a special Pixar or Star Wars sailing on the Disney Cruise Line.
- You will still feel the Disney magic on a Disney cruise!
But there are definitely some things that are different than the parks.
- A Disney cruise is a more relaxing vacation. There are no huge crowds to contend with, no standing in line—unless you count the buffet for breakfast and lunch.
- You won’t have to get up at 7 am to plan your day with Genie+ on a Disney cruise!
- There is less planning on a Disney cruise. After you book your cruise, you really only need to think about what excursions you might want to take, and a few options for fun activities onboard.
- There is less stress with a Disney cruise. You just board the ship and relax! Everything is taken care of for you. You will get your Daily Navigator to tell you when the daily activities are happening, you will have your designated dining each night, etc. You can just enjoy your time reconnecting as a family!
- Mom & Dad can relax at the pool or in the hot tub (or even just reading a book on the deck) while the kids have the time of their lives in the Oceaneer’s Club!
- You will still find amazing shows on a Disney cruise, and you might enjoy them even more than in the parks!
- All your meals (except for a few special occasion offerings) are included with your cruise fare. There are no reservations to be made! And you will have the same wait staff each night, even though you are dining in different restaurants. They will soon know your preferences, so don’t be surprised if your favorite beverage is waiting for you when you sit down!
- And don’t forget about the beach! All Disney cruises to the Caribbean and Bahamas include a day at Castaway Cay. This private port includes an amazing day at the beach, with snorkeling, a water park, or just time to relax in the sun!
Now that you know a few differences between a Disney cruise and a visit to Walt Disney World or Disneyland, which would you prefer? If your kids want to enjoy a Disney vacation but you want to relax, you may just want to think about a Disney cruise!
