Our family visited the Majestic Mirage all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic recently. We loved this resort and the staff, so I wanted to share our experiences with you.
The Majestic resorts are actually three resorts side-by-side in Punta Cana. There is the Colonial, the Elegance and the Mirage. During our visit, the Colonial resort was not yet opened because of COVID, and the Elegance only opened the day after we arrived. We stayed in the Mirage. These three resorts do not have exchange privileges, which is a bit uncommon among all-inclusive resorts. But each resort has the same dining options and amazing pools and beaches, so there really is no reason to visit one of the other resorts. Each of the three resorts does have a different feel to it. The Colonial offers more of a family feel, with a little more to offer the little ones. The Elegance is the most active of the three, and usually has a little bit of a younger clientele. And the Mirage is a little more upscale and quieter than the other two. The Mirage is an all-suite resort, and also has the largest adult-only section of the three. They do offer family suites, but this is a smaller section than the adult-only.
Since we stayed in the Mirage, I will give you my experiences with this resort. We had our three adult children with us (22, 19 and 19), so we had two rooms. Both of our rooms were in the Mirage Club, which is the adult-only section of the Mirage. Our room was the Mirage Club Sky View Suite, with a roof top outdoor jacuzzi. We were in building 6 and had a nice ocean view. Our girls were in a Mirage Club One Bedroom Suite with an outdoor jacuzzi. They were also in building 6, but they were a little bit further from the beach, so they didn’t have that ocean view that we did.
The rooms were gorgeous! Our girls’ room was about twice the size of ours, offering a bedroom with 2 queen beds and a living room area. They also had 1 ½ baths, which was nice with the 3 of them sharing. Their bathroom was amazing, with a beautiful standalone tub. This room has a large balcony with the outdoor jacuzzi. They thoroughly enjoyed the room, but their jacuzzi wasn’t working correctly. Since we weren’t in our rooms that often, it wasn’t a big issue for them. They just came to our room to use our jacuzzi.
Speaking of our room, that rooftop area was very romantic! The stairs were inside our room, with a door to our private rooftop area. There was a nice, covered cabana with the hot tub. We used it quite a bit! It was so relaxing to end the day with a bottle of champagne and a soak in the tub.
The best thing about this resort was the staff! The Mirage offers butler service to everyone, and Jorge definitely took good care of us! I asked him for a small cake to celebrate our daughters’ graduation (our oldest just graduated from college, and our twins graduated from high school last year, so we had reason to celebrate!). Jorge went above and beyond and decorated their entire room! He was awesome, and took care of our every need, making dinner and spa reservations for us.
The entertainment staff was so much fun too! They really made an effort to get to know everyone at the resort, and they knew our girls’ names by the second or third day. They got everyone involved in the daily activities, and we loved their dancing at the nightly shows. The shows at night were really entertaining, so definitely make an effort to attend those.
The beach is my spot, so I loved the covered cabanas. There were so many that I never had to search long for a spot, and there was an adult-only area of the beach too if you really wanted to relax. The only issue with the beach was the seaweed. This can be a problem anywhere in the Caribbean, and there’s really nothing that can be done. The Majestic staff did clean the beach each morning, but the seaweed was back before lunch. Our routine was to head to the beach after breakfast, relax in the cabanas for a while, and then head to the pool in the afternoon. There were daily activities on the beach and in the pool, and we participated quite a bit. It was so much fun!
The only thing that wasn’t amazing at this resort was the dining. It wasn’t awful, it just wasn’t wonderful. There were a few things at each restaurant that were good, but then a few things that weren’t. And nothing really wowed me at this resort. I did like that we didn’t have to make reservations for the restaurants, except for the hibachi restaurant and the French restaurant. And we never had to wait for a table at any restaurant. They even managed to squeeze up in at the hibachi restaurant when I got the reservation time wrong (we showed up 30 minutes late! Oops!). We loved the steak house the best, so we visited that one more than once! There are eight dining options at the Mirage. In addition to the steak house, the hibachi and the French restaurant, there are two buffet restaurants (one on the beach that was great for lunch), a sports bar, a coffee and pastry shop, and an Italian restaurant. Be sure to stop by the martini bar outside of the Italian restaurant! Their martinis were divine!
All in all, we did really enjoy our stay at the Majestic Mirage. As I said before the dining was good, just not great. And the rooms, the beach and the staff more than made up for that, in my mind. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for an all-inclusive stay in the Dominican Republic!
