The travel industry is beginning to pick up just a bit. I honestly think we are all just tired of staying at home and want to get out and explore! But if you are thinking about planning a vacation for your family, I wanted to share some reasons why you really should consider using a travel professional to take care of those planning details for you.
Some people do love to research and take care of the details of their own trip, and that’s great. But in the post-COVID world (if we ever get there!), there are so many extra details and steps to take to make sure that you are actually able to travel!

For example, different islands in the Caribbean have different steps to take to be admitted to their island. In Jamaica, you have to fill out a traveler form, and you used to have to submit a negative COVID test online before you go to the airport. And only certain tests were accepted by the Jamaican government. Just this week the Jamaican government changed this process. You no longer have to upload your negative test results; you just need to bring a negative test to the airport. It’s so tough to keep up on the changes that are happening every day, so leave that to your travel professional!
Travel consultants are also getting updates on re-opening dates on your favorite resorts and hotels. We know when the resorts will be open, and where to send you if your resort will not be open on your vacation dates. Do you really want to have to keep up with that information, or even worse—show up at your resort to find it closed!!
Another thing to consider is what will happen if another COVID wave (or other pandemic or crisis) happens and you are away from home. Your travel consultant will know what things are shutting down, and they will be on the phone right away to change flights for you, talk to the resorts and see what sort of compensation they may be offering if you have to leave early, etc. And even if you haven’t travelled yet, your travel consultant will help you find the best option to change or cancel your travel plans.
